Shimomura Verdun Black Gentle Grater with Non-Slip Base VB-643

This is part of the Verdun Black series, kitchen tools unified in a deep black that let you build a clean, monotone kitchen with everything from basic cooking tools to handy extras.

The grating surface is angled so you can grate with less effort, and the sharp stainless steel blade lets you choose between two grating styles, lengthwise grating or circular grating. A coarse grate suits dishes like mizore-nabe (grated daikon hot pot), while a fine grate works well for grilled fish and tempura.

This grater measures 22 x 11.5 x 6.5 cm (8.7 x 4.5 x 2.6 in) and weighs 151 g (5.3 oz / 0.33 lb). It has a CBR rubber non-slip base and is made in Japan.
