This sake cup is handcrafted at the Yachiyo kiln in Shimousa using the traditional Edo Glass technique. Skilled artisans wind thin rods of colored glass and gold leaf around clear glass, then blow the piece into its final shape by hand.

The craft behind this cup has been designated a Traditional Craft by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The iron navy coloring shows a rich depth of color together with the gold leaf detailing and the warmth of handmade glass.

It measures 8.2 x 8.2 x 6.6 cm (3.2 x 3.2 x 2.6 in), holds 95 ml (3.2 fl oz), and weighs 120 g (4.2 oz / 0.26 lb). As with any handmade piece, slight variation in shape, size, weight, capacity, and color blending can occur.

Made in Japan, it comes in a dedicated gift box, suitable both as a gift and for everyday use.
