This sake cup is crafted at the Yachiyo kiln in the old Shimousa region, known for its Edo glass. An artisan wraps a thin rod of colored glass and gold leaf around clear glass, then shapes the piece by blowing it by mouth, creating a glossy, one of a kind cup in the Rikyu gray colorway.

The rich color and gold leaf give the cup a luxurious look, while the handmade texture gains character the more it is used. This piece continues the techniques of Edo glass, a traditional craft designated by Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

It measures 6.8 x 6.8 x 6 cm (2.7 x 2.7 x 2.4 in), weighs 125 g (4.4 oz), and holds 115 ml (3.9 fl oz). It comes in a dedicated gift box, making it a nice choice for a special gift. Because each piece is handmade, slight variations in shape, size, weight, and color are normal.
