This slicer is part of Shimomura Kogyo's Ajiwai Shokubo ECO series, a line built around the future of the natural environment. The resin body blends in plant-based biomass plastic made from molasses, a byproduct left over after sugar is extracted from sugarcane, so it replaces some petroleum-based plastic and helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Use its two sides to quickly cut julienne strips about 5 mm (0.2 in) wide or fine tsuma garnish strips about 2 mm (0.1 in) wide, the kind of shredded garnish served alongside dishes like sashimi. The slicer is dishwasher safe.

It measures 26.5 x 9 x 1.3 cm (10.4 x 3.5 x 0.5 in) and weighs about 80 g (2.8 oz / 0.18 lb). Made in Japan.
